“January” by Yordan Radichkov returns to the stage of the Drama Theatre “Nikola Vaptsarov” – Blagoevgrad nearly four decades after its last production. One of Radichkov’s most emblematic plays, the “winter poem” of Bulgarian drama, once again comes to life on stage with its distinctive characters, paradoxical humor, and profound philosophy. In Radichkov’s text, the harshness of nature and human fears intertwine into a mythological fabric in which the strange becomes familiar, and the familiar turns into mystery.
“January” is a performance about boundaries — between humanity and nature, between fear and hope, between the familiar and the inexplicable. It is an encounter with the great Radichkov — a storyteller of worlds in which myth comes alive in everyday life, and drama carries its own quiet, snow-laden poetry.
