An internal casting session with the actors from the company was held at Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre – Blagoevgrad for the project “Fire Carnival”, which is set to be realised in partnership with the Theatre of Fire and Shadows Fireter.

The casting was led by Plamen Ivanov – head of the workshop-laboratory and director of the production – together with the Fireter team. During the working session, the participants went through practical tasks related to physical theatre, body work and rhythm, as well as initial exercises focused on street performance art – stilts, fire elements and acrobatic techniques.

The children from the Theatre School at the theatre, led by Teodor Kukov, also took an active part in the casting. For the young participants, this is an opportunity to become involved in a professional creative process and to further develop their skills in a different stage environment – beyond the boundaries of the traditional stage.

The project “Fire Carnival” is aimed at creating a new cultural product – a street performance that will take theatre beyond the conventional stage space and bring it directly to audiences in the urban environment. A period of intensive preparation, creative experimentation and further development of artistic skills lies ahead, involving both the actors and the young participants. “Fire Carnival” is another step towards an open, mobile and contemporary theatre that reaches new audiences and expands the boundaries of the performing arts. The visually striking production will be presented in Blagoevgrad, Simitli and Gotse Delchev.
