Boris Varbanov

Actor

BORIS VARBANOV was born on July 27, 2000, in Sofia. In 2023, he graduated with a degree in "Acting for Drama Theatre" from the "Krastyo Sarafov" National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in the class of prof. Ivan Dobchev. He graduated with the roles of First Sadducee and Fallen Angel in "Lazarus and Jesus" by Emilian Stanev, directed by Ivan Dobchev, and Count Shabelski in "Ivanov-Barabanov" by Anton Chekhov, directed by Ivan Dobchev. Even before graduating, after being selected in a casting from over 90 participants, he becomes part of the troupe of the "Nikola Vaptsarov" Drama Theatre. He made his debut on the Blagoevgrad stage in the role of Claudio in "The Boy in the Last Row" by Juan Mayorga, directed by Teya Sugareva. 

 

His roles in the theatre include: 

  • Claudio in "The Boy in the Last Row" by Juan Mayorga, director Teya Sugareva (2022);
  • Gregor Samsa in "The Transfiguration" by Franz Kafka, director Veselka Kuncheva (2023); 
  • Vertumnus and The Hunger in "Metamorphoses" by Ovid, stage adaptation by Mary Zimmerman, director Stayko Murdjev (2023); 
  • Soldier and Rat in "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" by Hans Christian Andersen, director Nikolay Yordanov (2023);

 

His roles outside "Nikola Vaptsarov" Drama Theatre include:

  • St. Tanas in "Apocryphal" directed by Ivan Dobchev (SFUMATO Theatre Laboratory, 2021); 
  • Peter in "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare, director Grigor Antonov ("Konstantin Velichkov" Drama and Puppet Theatre - Pazardjik, 2021);
