No. PR-US-25-13/11.12.2025 of the Management Board of the National Culture Fund, under contract Reg. No. SRMP-T-2025-5 dated 12/12/2025.
The project envisages the creation of the street attraction performanceCARNAVAL OF FIREfeaturing actors from the theatre’s company and students from the acting school at Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre. Following a one-month workshop-laboratory in street attraction art — stilts, fire juggling and acrobatics — led by specialists from Theatre of FIRE Shadows “Fireter”, the team will create a new performance to be presented in an urban environment in the cities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli and Gotse Delchev.
Public performances in urban public spaces are planned for a broad audience, as an important step towards taking theatre beyond the conventional stage space, decentralising the performing arts, and developing local and regional audiences by introducing them to new genres and ensuring free access to culture in
small settlements.
The performances will be open and free to attend, in order to reach the widest and most diverse audience possible — young people, families, regular theatre-goers, passers-by, and especially people with limited access to culture, who rarely have the opportunity to attend professional performing arts events.
The carnavalimplies the breaking down of boundaries — between stage and audience, between high art and popular art, between tradition and contemporaneity. “The carnaval OF FIRE” is conceived both as a performance and as a celebration, one that can be understood by audiences on an intuitive level — through images, rhythm and emotional impact.
The public performances will take place in Blagoevgrad — two events — and in the towns of Simitli and Gotse Delchev — one event each — as follows:
– Premiere of the performance “The carnaval OF FIRE” — 18 and 19 September 2026, at 8:30 p.m. — Blagoevgrad. Public presentation in Blagoevgrad, central city area — Georgi Izmirliev-Makedonche Square No. 1, with plans to hold, prior to the performance, a carnivalно шествие от мост на Младежкия дом в посока пл. – Public presentation in Simitli, in the central city area, on 2 October 2026 at 8:30 p.m., at Septemvri Square.
