THE BLIND

In an isolated place, eleven blind souls struggle to find their way and return. Yet at times, they transcend their physical blindness and embark on a labyrinthine journey, retracing their own steps. In doing so, they relive the memories of their lives. These characters invite you to walk the path alongside them — to ask questions and, through questioning, to discover answers. The questions reveal the beauty of physical and identity differences among all living beings who share this world. For it is precisely the diversity and transience of human existence that give rise to its deepest and most beautiful dimensions.

"The Blind“ is an exceptionally contemporary and visually striking stage exploration of Maurice Maeterlinck’s classic symbolist text. In the interpretation of director Kendrim Ryyani, the performance becomes a hypnotic ritual about the loss of direction, the crisis of leadership, and the longing for meaning in a world of darkness and uncertainty.

Created by the Turkish Theatre in Skopje, the performance is an example of a successful multicultural dialogue – Turkish-speaking ensemble, European dramatic canon, and a stage language that resonates beyond borders and traditions. The performance combines a minimalist yet expressive visual aesthetic, a soundscape evoking the silence of fear, and a powerful collective stage presence.
