"The Birthday of the Infanta" is a family performance based on one of the most exciting stories by the brilliant writer Oscar Wilde, which tells the tale of the pampered daughter of the Spanish king and a little dwarf enchanted by her beauty. The performance explores the cruelty in children born from external circumstances in the adult world and seeks to answer the question of how the absence of love destroys the ability for compassion.
The human soul with its bright and dark sides is the subject of exploration in the works of the Irish author. "The Birthday of the Infanta" is a tale about cruelty. The soul of the Spanish princess is like a caged bird. Wealth and privileges cannot replace the lack of genuine human connection and understanding in this twelve-year-old child. Deprived of true love and tenderness, raised in an atmosphere of insincerity and falsehood, she transforms from an innocent child into a tyrannical and self-centered creature.
