Following the intensive workshop held in the spring with Macedonian director and choreographer Filip Petkovski, rehearsals have now begun on the stage of Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre – Blagoevgrad for the new theatre-dance production Blood Wedding, based on Federico García Lorca.
The project marks an important step towards international cooperation and creative exchange between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. It brings together Bulgarian and Macedonian artists in a shared search for a new, authentic stage language through the synthesis of text, movement and music. Through this multidisciplinary approach, Blood Wedding will translate Lorca’s poetic and tragic world into a contemporary, spectacular and powerful theatre-dance form.
Direction, dramaturgy, choreography and lighting design are by Filip Petkovski. The set design is by Martin Manev, the costumes are by Antonia Guginska Yordanoska, the music is by Petar Dundakov, and the assistant director is Kiril-Yoan Milenkov.
The cast includes: Vanina Yordanova, Matey Michev, Samuil Srebrov, Nedelyana Pavlik, Katya Ivanova, Lora Hristova, Bilyana Dyakova, Ognyan Spirov, Teodor Karakachanov, Kamen Stefanov, Ivan Nikolov, Martin Yordanov, Marina Fartsova and Aleksandra Krasnova.

Blood Wedding will become part of the theatre’s repertoire in the new season, and tickets for the premiere performance on 7 September are now on sale.
