Within the framework of the project “Cultural Bridges in Southwestern Bulgaria: Access and Inclusion through Drama Theatre “Nikola Vaptsarov” – Blagoevgrad will visit the town of Belitsa with two performances aimed at children, families, and adult audiences.
The performances will take place on 25 February 2026 on the stage of Community Centre “Georgi Todorov – 1885” – Belitsa.
At 10:30 a.m., audiences will have the opportunity to see the children’s performance “Cinderella” — a stage interpretation of the classic fairy tale, filled with music, dance, magic, and a sense of humour. The story of kindness, courage, and the strength to remain true to oneself comes to life on stage in a performance that combines a fairy-tale atmosphere with a vivid acting presence and visual imagination. The encounter with Cinderella is an invitation for young audiences to believe that miracles are possible when we do not lose hope.
After the performance, a creative workshop for children will be held under the motto “Recreate Your Favourite Character”, led by young theatre professionals and actors from the theatre’s troupe. Young spectators will have the opportunity to create their own puppets, masks, or paper characters, inspired by the fairy-tale world they have just seen on stage. All materials will be provided, and each child will take home their own creation as a keepsake from their encounter with theatre.
At 7:00 p.m. that same evening, the theatre will present the comedy “Marriage” by Nikolai Gogol, directed by Rostislav Georgiev — a satirical story about love, marriage, and human hesitation. At the centre of the action is the indecisive Podkolyosin, faced with the choice of taking the most important step in his life — marriage. With sharp humour, vivid characters, and absurd situations, the performance reveals the comic dimensions of social expectations and the personal fear of responsibility. The production offers a dynamic rhythm, ensemble acting, and a contemporary interpretation of the classic text.
After the performance, a meeting and discussion with the audience will take place, offering an opportunity to discuss the themes of the production, its artistic choices, and the connection between the classic text and contemporary sensibilities.
Tickets for the performances can be purchased at the box office of Community Centre “Georgi Todorov – 1885” – Belitsa.
Prices:
— EUR 3 for the children’s performance “Cinderella”
— EUR 5 for the performance “Marriage”
Within the social focus of the project, 20 free invitations have been provided for each performance, intended for people from marginalised and socially vulnerable groups, with the aim of ensuring genuine and equal access to the cultural event.
